Attachments

iMail has a feature that allows you to send attachments along with an email message.  This makes it easy to send a picture (a .jpg or .gif file) to someone.  Also, you can prepare formatted documents in a word processor and send the document with the richness of presentation permitted in the word processor.  BUT ... the person you send the email message to, must have a copy of the word processor application running our their machine if they are to be able to "open" the document and read it.

Start by clicking the "Compose" button as usual and create your message:

Note the "ATTACH  1." text box in the image below, with the "Browse" button next to it:

You do not enter anything in the "ATTACH:  1. " text box area ... click the "Browse" button and a window will open similar to the one below.  This window is displaying files on a typical  hard-drive, but when your window opens it will show you files on your hard-drive.

By clicking on a file, in this case we will select profile00.jpg, it's name will appear in the "File name: " text box as shown below.

Now click the "Open" button and the file will be selected and entered automatically into your
"ATTACH  1." text box area.

Delete or Forward Messages

Some users continue to have problems with certain iMail functions; mainly delete, forward and creating/receiving attachments.

Unfortunately the new Windows 2000 version of iMail's doesn't work well with some of the older browsers; Netscape and Internet Explorer must be of the latest version for all of iMail features to work properly.

If you are having iMail problems, please  upgrade  to the latest versions. ( Go to the microsoft, netscape, or apple websites for the downloads.)

IF ... after you have successfully upgraded to the latest version of your browser, you are still having problems, the following steps may be required.

  • Your mailbox has been corrupted and will have to be deleted and replaced.

    - Open your mailbox and printout any messages you would like to save.

    - Send an email to MagNet1 requesting your corrupted email box be deleted and replaced.  Click here to send us email.
