Newark , NJ 24.2% U.S. Census Bureau, 2006 American Community Survey, August 2007 What do the top ten cities (over 250,000) with the highest poverty rate all have in common? Since the beginning of the Lyndon Johnson initiated War on Poverty, the 10 cities have had approximately 450 man-years of mayoral or equivalent control running their cities. Of that total, Democrats have run these cities for a total of about 90% of the time.
Detroit, MI (1st on the poverty rate
list) hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1961;
Ed. Note: In fairness to Democrats as well as Republicans, what I conclude is that all politicians have failed at solving the poverty problem, because they are too busy feathering their own nests with the public treasure, they are clueless relative to managing a society, and most importantly, there are no consequences for them when they fail. They are reelected over and over, while they never solve the problems they were elected to solve. Obama is a typical example of the obtuse thinking of many if not most politicians. He has a big ego and thinks he knows best, regardless of what the people think. History has shown that this attitude leads to eventual failure, so another 4 or 8 years goes by without a solution, just more money thrown to a problem, with no solutions, and no consequences for failure. Einstein once said, 'The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.' This is exactly what Obama is doing relative to our financial mess. He is ignoring the history of what works and what doesn't work, because this zero experienced politician thinks he knows more than everyone else, and his way will work, regardless of historical fact. More people will suffer, but not the political class. They will manage to stay employed through whatever happens. They will not lose their homes, their retirements, etc. Once again, as in the past, the American people (minus the politicians) will bear the brunt of the errors made by the politicians. Wake-up American and get rid of these professional politicians. If a zero experienced people can be "appointed" or "anointed" into office, that proves that anyone could do the job. Think about the zero experienced people sent to Congress- Teddy Kennedy, Sonny Bono's wife, Caroline Kennedy (almost), Biden's son (waiting in line), Corzine, Hillary Clinton, and on and on.
